Perfect, so guys, welcome to Bible study tonight. For those of you who weren’t in when we talked about it. We’re going to become out of Mark 5 and Joshua 6 for the night. I Pray everybody’s having a blessed day while we get started. Let’s go ahead and pray real quick, Father God, we we thank you for being able to come tonight and study your word We thank you that you were just being able to be in your presence and we get to fellowship and learn together as a family Father God, we ask for your presence here tonight that your Holy Spirit be here as we go to study your word that we may learn and grow in In the things that you are leading and guiding us in on tonight father in Jesus name. We pray. Amen .
Let me pull this up here. I’ll get right on into it. We’re going to come out of Mark 5, Verses 22 through 24, and pull this up on a screen so y’all can see. Give it a second. Perfect. Can everybody see that?
Awesome! So, let’s go ahead and begin reading
Read Mark 5:22-34
Mark 5:22–34 (ESV)
22 Then came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and seeing him, he fell at his feet 23 and implored him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.” 24 And he went with him. And a great crowd followed him and thronged about him. 25 And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, 26 and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse. 27 She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. 28 For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.” 29 And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. 30 And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, immediately turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my garments?”31 And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’ ” 32 And he looked around to see who had done it. 33 But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. 34 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”
So that is the end of our first scripture reading for the night so some things I wanted to point out here that we came across in the text is There’s two parts to it There’s the story of the man Jairus who has come out and said I know that if you keep if you come She will my daughter will be healed And then there’s the woman of the issue of blood who comes forth and says I know if I just touch his garment I will be healed So this quickly shows me that as Jesus hears the man’s request He is moved by that man’s faith Which means that of course our faith can move God our faith as it deepens it grows and is wholeheartedly in Christ can grow and move things out of the way to Where the Lord has an ear for what we’re hearing or what we’re saying So the story goes To continue on the story goes that when Jesus is actually on his way to that daughter That she actually dies and that’s closer to the end of the story.
We didn’t read it, but that’s what ends up happening and so he gets to the house of this little girl and she’s died while Jesus is on the journey and He walks in and there’s all these mourners. There’s people crying and Jesus walks in and Everybody’s crying around him So the reason I’m bringing up this these this verse The reason I’m bringing this up is that if we were to take a moment on to reflect on this we would notice from you know last Sunday’s preaching and the Bible study done before by pastor During this session we learned about two different mindsets or crowds that we often find ourselves surrounded with We are reminded that we can either choose to run a sound or to surround ourselves with like-minded people who share our faiths and beliefs and who Encourage and hold us accountable or we could choose to hold ourselves or surround ourselves with people who ridicule or discourage us We also learned that our faith can move door or can move God and open the doors to our blessings healings and Promises that God has made to us we learned by stepping out, you know, and just praising the praising the Lord that there’s healing in that or In the story of Jericho when they’re marching around that when they shout the walls fall And we’re gonna dive into both this story and the story of Jericho tonight But we can see that however the absence of faith can impede our progress and hinder our ability to receive all that God has in store for us and what do I say by like Absence of faith. I’m referring to our doubts our lack of obedience our Lack of an understanding for the word and the promises of God that Maybe we choose to condemn ourselves or maybe we don’t believe that God can truly heal us of whatever is ailing us that is Only going to impede and hinder our ability to receive what God has in store for us so overall They said the last two preaching or less preaching and Bible study is a powerful reminder to surround ourselves with positive people and Influences that have faith in God’s plan for our lives
So picking back up where the story in the story where Jesus arrives to the house and the little girl is dead People start laughing for he says that she’s only asleep and People are like no, what do you mean?
She’s dead and He They’re going so you can imagine if we put ourselves in this scenario That the unbelief coming out of these people’s mouths. They’re like, no, she’s dead. We don’t believe you.
She’s not asleep They’re laughing. They’re ridiculing and We noticed something that Jesus does in this text and we didn’t get to that part to read it But I’ll tell you what he does He sends everybody out Except for the father and then the mother he clears the entire room and then takes the father and the mother to the room to where the little girl
is and So I wanted to pause here and pose a question to you guys before we continue on.
Why do you think during this text does Jesus clear the room? Why would he send everybody out other than the mother and the father?
Mm-hmm Yeah, so we’re looking at wavering faith and because of the people that are around us and I kind of hinted at that during the last preaching that maybe if the blind men could see that they wouldn’t have stepped out on faith because of They would have been able to see how large and overwhelming the crowd who was telling them to stop how big they were. Yeah Like if they could see just how large that crowd was would they really have stepped out?
Would they really have said Lord? I still need you because The the way that we surround ourselves and who we surround ourselves with can be overwhelming Just from the sheer sight of it like in the story Jericho when they’re looking at this city and they’re like, oh, I don’t have any weapons or shields or anything But I’m being told to march around but I see how big the city is. I see that wall and how strong it is there’s a little bit of Unwavering in that and they look at it like how could we possibly do this?
Yeah, and that’s a really good point too because you bring up to The aspect of the people who knew us before I transitioned to the faith The reason he couldn’t do anything in his hometown is because people didn’t see him as a savior they were seeing him as they knew him prior to him starting his ministry and so there was a lot of Lot of that’s not you know, they knew Christ and although he was blameless and sinless people wouldn’t view him that way because they knew him prior to his ministry and that’s the same reason that We as believers have the hardest time preaching say to our family members that might not believe yet Because they they knew us when we were hurting the most they knew us in our sin they knew us and In a part of our lives where we didn’t know nothing of God or We maybe we weren’t the strongest in our faith at the time But now we have come to a different level of our faith and understanding and they don’t want to hear it So yeah, that’s actually a really good Really good time in Jesus’s ministry to bring that up where he had to go out He had to dust his feet and say I can’t do anything and I can’t do anything here So that’s perfect Does anybody else have anything?
Cool all right, so what I had put down here is After my question when he clears the room I put in That he can’t have that type of mindset around him, you know Christ is about to bring forth a resurrection The one thing that he doesn’t have time for Or the one thing he can’t make that time for is he can’t make time for doubt or the laughter that is around him He has he’s he’s there to kill someone because of the faith that Jairus had When he said I know that if you were to come you could heal and make her whole but the people in the company that Jairus was keeping because you got to think about who would What company would Jairus have been keeping? Well, we know that Jairus was a leader in the synagogue and at the time many of the people in the synagogue Were wavering from their faith with God they were struggling with the aspect of moving forward and having wholehearted belief and the things that There’s Lord and Savior could do or their God could do So he had to put these people out Because just their unbelief Was putting Jairus in a situation That could cause Jairus his faith like Sarah said to waver And if Jairus didn’t have faith that Jesus could heal this person then why would Jesus go and heal his daughter So that’s perfect so we come back and We look so that was the first half of Mark 5 that was you know, though the daughter being healed and So we’re moving forward and I wanted to read from Joshua real quick Let me get switched over and we’ll read from Joshua Which Bibles here just give that a second to pull up perfect, and so we’re starting in Joshua 8 and we’re gonna read through verse 11
Read Joshua 6:8-11
Joshua 6:8–11 (ESV)
8 And just as Joshua had commanded the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the Lord went forward, blowing the trumpets, with the ark of the covenant of the Lord following them. 9 The armed men were walking before the priests who were blowing the trumpets, and the rear guard was walking after the ark, while the trumpets blew continually. 10 But Joshua commanded the people, “You shall not shout or make your voice heard, neither shall any word go out of your mouth, until the day I tell you to shout. Then you shall shout.” 11 So he caused the ark of the Lord to circle the city, going about it once. And they came into the camp and spent the night in the camp.
Why did God tell them to be silent?
So we were talking about Joshua 6 when the people were marching around and God told them to be silent and to not utter a word My question was why did God tell them to be silent?
Pastor Howell Speaking
Then the winds in the way thought they were about to die they went down they were afraid and they asked him Why are you just gonna let us die? Cut up and told him about Little their faith was he went and rebuked the waves in the wind And then when he went back down they became even more afraid but now they were afraid of him Yeah There God told him to do something the Bible tells us that obedience is better than sacrifice Mm-hmm. And so it was if they were going to be obedient See Jesus had already told the men on the boat the outcome the end Before they even went into the beginning.
He had told him to the end Hmm he told him go across we’re gonna we’re gonna go to the other side Their obedience was simply just to go to the other side. That was it. That’s all they had to do.
Just go to the other side No matter what happened with the way no matter what happened with wind And so here we come and we look at this incessant instance You can almost say a law first mentioned where God was testing the obedience of the people here are my instructions So many times that the children of Israel not listen to the instructions that God gave You’re not watching all the guys before no putting all the guys before me yet.
They did right? They right after Moses was up on the mount. They and he was gone for too long.
They started making golden calves But here it is. Now. He’s testing them.
I’m gonna he gave them a specific set of instructions Sorry, I keep a mutant my camera do these things, right? And they were to do it Imagine had they not done all that God had told them to do in that situation The question would be what the walls have fallen
obedience admitted and sacrifice So he gave him a specific set of instructions. God is a God of order and so he did it as as a test Because regardless or not the walls to fall he’s got all by himself.
So the walls could fall, right? So their obedience and it had to be something ridiculous something that they could not think about it when God is having to do something and he Wants his glory to be shown in it. It has to be something so ridiculous something So outlandish that man cannot put their grubby hands on it and say I made this happen So I’m gonna have you put your prophets out front Plate it don’t say anything March around this Exorbitantly long amount of time to where you’re now extremely tired make no noise and then at the last one, I want y’all to just get crazy just get Wow and Right when you do that, you will have defeated So there’s nothing that you can say that man did the causes to happen Yes, I heard fear.
Oh, yeah, that would strike fear in the eyes of your enemies. They did nothing But it should not be the fear of them Because in the Bible we show we see that it wasn’t the fear of the Israelites The Israelites could be defeated as long as they disobeyed God But when they were in union and in his step with the Lord, they were undefeatable Look at look at the the false prophet Balaam he I can’t go against what God say don’t you to protect it right so Overall, yes fear is a big one And everything everyone said because I was reading the text and I was trying like wow, this is an interesting these answers What is that? What is the question?
But I would say I would throw my hat in the ring to say obedience a test of obedience The test of obedience to see if they truly had faith Jesus Get on the boat. We go on to the other side We’re going to the other side get on the boat It matter if the waves in the wind and everything gonna crash If you believe I am who I am And I and what I say is true Then we’re gonna end up at the other side regardless of the winds and the wave and everything else that’s crashing around You know One last thing and i’m gonna be quiet. I’m gonna give it back to paul It’s kind of like thinking about a cake When you think about a cake, right God the bible says he’s making all things work together or come together for your good, right?
Working all these things so anybody who’s ever baked knows that the flour Alone is not a cake the egg alone Is not a cake and whatever ingredients and whatever greed is and whatever greed is by themselves are not a cake But work together Blend it into one and then with a little bit of heat Put up under it It becomes you start to smell that cake It draws people from other rooms in and so all those things are working together for the good, right? So If he says you’re gonna eat some cake don’t It’s our don’t eat. We’re gonna eat you’re gonna eat some cake And you think about the the Children israel and jericho and you think about jesus in the boat in the water and going to the other shore All these different ingredients The instructions is to mix them this way If you mix them this way and heat it this way and follow the instructions You get a good cake What happens if you don’t do it? The cake could fall and it’d be ruined It’s all about following his instructions I think that is one of the big big um Aspects of that that story and Joshua
Back to Minister Paul
And I I really like the the aspect that you’re coming from that it was almost a show of faith because When you’re looking at it It almost showed from the way that you described it. It shows our response Are we truly going to respond in the way that the lord is asking us to to show our faith And um, sean, did you have something? Okay.
All right. Um, so what I had down for this was that um Aaron kind of spoke about it a little bit. He said You got to think about Who were the people that were marching around jericho?
Who who was joshua leading? When he was talking about to the people or to the people of israel These are the people the children of you know, they just came out of the desert then You know, they this was the people the children of the people that moses had led and so What I had written down is that these are the children of complainers And that they were notorious for complaining about the situations that they were in And so god in this aspect was saying be quiet because there’s a miracle in progress Are you going to listen?
He said I can’t allow you or I wrote that I can’t allow you to speak right now Because you don’t realize it that the only enemy is yourself If he if god were to start letting them talk while they’re marching They might very well talk themselves out of this miracle So They had to be quiet because there was a victory in progress and it was a march in faith and they had to They had to present themselves in a way That whereas, you know, we have those external struggles of the crowd We have our people that we trusted then we surround then we are surrounded by people who don’t believe in us the same way that we do or we believe in And then we have the faith that’s within us and what we believe in just like gyrus said I know the lord can do this thing or the woman with the issue of blood said I know that this will heal me But there’s that doubt That internally lies in us that we have to kill and smother so that we don’t Stop the progress that god is doing in us because we can backslide So easily if we were to just talk ourself out of the miracle If we were to just talk ourself out of the victory Because we can easily do that and then we find ourselves set so far back And it’s the hardest thing to get back on the straight and narrow path If they had stopped marching For on the fifth day and then all of a sudden they wanted to come back And they would have had to do it all over again. They would have had to start everything over again Because they had stopped walking and they if they were to talk themselves out of that They would have never seen the promise that god had for them At least and that’s what I had from it so, uh Before moving forward.
Does anybody else have anything about this segment here?
Yeah one of those and he was praying at the king’s gate and if he if he had stopped having faith for any moment all of his people would have All of his people could have died that’s a That’s a great one to bring up as well. Um Because he he laid himself prostrate out before the lord and tell the lord use esther To to save the people And it was because of esther’s faith in the lord and then mordecai’s faith to stay put And to do a thing but the king noticed mordecai in the first place Because he was faithful and he stayed there So yeah, that’s a that’s a wonderful input into this aspect of we have to as pastor was saying be obedient Unto the things of the lord and follow these instructions As well as we can’t allow ourselves to talk ourselves out of that promise And we know that from the word that that promise is victory No matter the circumstances the promise is victory through our lord and savior. Jesus christ If you could take all of the faith and bully it down to one aspect That’s what it is That salvation is coming for those who Know how to be obedient and listen and to put all their faith in the lord And so With that being said When we had read in mark 5 We see the stage being set for two miracles that are happening happening You know side by side almost there’s the Where jesus heals the little girl and resurrects her and the father’s reach and faiths moves moves jesus That jesus goes and does such a thing And jesus has reached resurrects the girl. It was all by faith.
It was because of the faith that gyrus had And he didn’t allow that crowd in his home To stop what was happening that jesus was able to put them out He was able to put them out and gyrus saw that his little girl became whole and healed and so in this We can talk about a little bit about the timing of god That as jesus move is moved by jesus towards the home The scripture says that there’s another woman and this is the woman with the issue of blood And what might appear to be an interruption to jesus on the way to gyrus’s house? Was actually a divine interaction because the reason that jesus was late to the house to begin with Was because this woman stopped him and A lot of people can quickly relate to the woman And although we might not be bleeding physically uh, some could say that we uh There’s a lot of people in the body of the faith that might be hemorrhaging emotionally or hemorrhaging or Relationally and so we cling to this knowing that there’s healing for us uh for this and A little bit of encouragement today in that aspect is as we look at the passage um That we know that with god there’s always a way And by faith we will find it So you could quickly, uh, what I notice about the woman is that this woman had the same struggle for 12 12 long years And all the hurt that she faced It hurt hasn’t stolen her hope because she has been the doctor. She spent all her money this woman That may have been considered unclean because of what she was going through Admittedly was probably wealthy and she spent everything she had To try to be healed, but she was only getting worse and in god’s timing She was healed by her faith because she said if only I could just touch the cloth That jesus is wearing I will be made whole and be healed so her hurt Hasn’t stolen her hope And we have to know that this woman was hurting that she was losing everything because of the sickness that she had And so I wanted to pause here and allow you guys to interject again It’s a simple question, but there’s many answers
What is hope?
So we have desire emotion and an outcome not seen Is anybody else?
Okay Not hearing any i’m gonna go ahead and move forward and What I put in here Is that hope is the confident expectation Of what god has promised And its strength Is in his faithfulness So we’re looking at a confident expectation and the lord’s Faithfulness in that so hope is the belief That although I can’t see god I can still sense god Hope is the belief that although it seems like he might be absent I’m going to firmly believe that he is present And we look at the woman at the issue of blood if she hoped that if she were to touch his garment She would be healed And then the man who came before him hoped that he knew that christ would come and heal his daughter so Hope Hope is like Something that we might find ourselves grasping on to when we have when we’re
walking through our faith walk um It’s something that we’re grasping on to And it’s almost too heavy for us to hold up on our own because we’re not holding up hope Where the psalmist said why is my soul so downcast put your hope in god because people often say well don’t get your hopes up or uh They’ll say like don’t get your hopes up But we know that that’s a lie because we’re not lifting hope up to anything.
We’re putting our hope in it’s a Uh faith is a substance of things. Uh Um unseen and hoped for right let me pull that verse up because I don’t know the full one Faith is a substance Of things hope for the evidence of things not seen Yeah of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen So we’re looking that these people are hopeful. We’re not hoping in an outcome.
We’re hoping in god I don’t hope in an agenda. I put my hope in god Because nothing could come before god and I know that god Through all these things whether you’re you know, like the woman of the issue of blood you’re going through 12 years of struggles You have hope that god in his time will fix that Because of the faith that we have in him So I put my hope in god It says i’m putting my hope in god and it is The the strength of our faith that’s the object of our faith.
It’s not Faith and faith our faith. Our hope is in that faith and so My faith is attached to jesus christ the king of kings Lord of lords author and perfecter of our story. We attach our faith to jesus Faith being the substance of things hoped for or the evidence of things not seen And we know this through his miracles and we see the two miracles in mark or we see the miracle in joshua or uh, like sean brought up we see the miracle with mordecai and You know when all the people of israel were going to be slaughtered And we see the hope that even though there’s an insurmountable person in high position Going after people who have no say because they’re slaves or servants That this person who’s on some authority Won’t conquer the people of israel because of their faith in or their hope and their faith And the things that the lord is doing So when we look at this woman, we see that her hope works her hope works And so the text says she’s gone to many doctors In fact, the bible says she spent everything she had trying to get well It says that she spent everything and she tried to see different doctors and every time she just grew worse She she’s sad and she’s suffering she’s hurt But she kept trying in the aspect that when she did everything she could do She put her hope in god And god was able to heal her And so we look at it and we know that the hope works We we need to learn to wait on the lord The prophet isaiah said wait on the lord and he shall renew your strength So while we’re waiting we’re growing stronger While we’re waiting for the lord to do the thing that we know he promised and we have faith and hope Because we’re not talking ourselves out of it. We’re not Allowing the crowd to speak to us that we’re putting our faith in the lord and we have these people around us who are Who are telling us that the god god’s going to do it the lord’s going to do it because we surround ourselves with people like mine That while we wait we’re getting stronger while we’re waiting we’re being developed we’re growing We’re learning new things of the lord.
We’re standing on the principles of christ. We have a solid foundation While we’re waiting we have no idea what he’s working out But the point is to wait because he is working it out Waiting on god means you do everything that you possibly can and then surrender to him Everything you can’t So you’re sick today. We’re doing everything we can and then we call upon god So those of you whom you know believe you weren’t qualified or you didn’t measure up or there’s A good father.
There’s a good father who stepped in and said that when you wait upon the lord He will renew your strength. So we humble ourselves before god And do good in due season And god will do it so At this point we know that this bible study that we’re talking about tonight in these couple of courses that we’ve been doing With pastor and the sermon we had and the one before that It says that you know The bible or this bible study is knowing the word We know we’re learning the word. We know know the word And we’re affirming what god is doing for you We’re affirming the promise that god has made to you So this woman who’s doing everything she knows to do But all the and although she’s doing everything she knows to do her problem’s not getting better It’s getting worse.
But then the bible says She heard about jesus. She tried everything but faith because faith begins when our ability ends And the scripture says she heard about jesus And we don’t know what she heard but it had to be something good because he’s the good news And the bible says the lord looks to and fro Throughout the whole earth and he’s looking for a humble heart He’s looking for a righteous heart and someone that could come alongside and strengthen So we have to have this mindset You know, we have to abandon the mindset of complaining like the people of Jairus or The people who are walking with Joshua did They had to abandon that mindset And they had to move forward into the promises of the lord and as pastor said move into the obedience of the lord and they had to have this mindset because Of the righteousness of the things of god that are in our heart So god’s looking for people to partner with And as we take one step towards jesus, whether you know it or not He starts working when we step out he starts working So, okay. So cynthia found it.
She said that when she heard about jesus she had hope in him She had hope that he could do it in faith trusted what he said he could do what he would do so he’s looking for these people that he’s going to partner with who have hope in what That he said he’s going to do what he could do or would do And as we take one step towards jesus whether we know it or not he’s working It doesn’t mean that we see that work immediately Or that we’re immediately taken out of the fire of our circumstance Not immediately always removed from it. We have to trust and wait on his time because god’s time is on time Pastor has his hand up.
Go ahead pastor Go ahead pastor Say what?
Pastor Howell Speaking
All you have to do is think about um fruit in a basket Whatever you surround yourself around is what you’re going to end up looking like Yeah, whatever you engage with is what will end up you will you will take on that If I walk into a house and they do not clean their Laundry, uh their dryer lint And I stay too close to it. I will eventually have their lint all over me
When you think about the woman with the issue of blood one of the aspects Paul said beneath the paul said that you come to the end of yourself and that’s where faith begins how Generally, you come to the end of yourself and that’s where god begins in your life that’s where you come to the pinnacle of the point where just like with The children of israel jericho There is no way that it can be done except that it is god God is the only one who could have done this Many people were touching the hem of his garment many people were touching in the hope of Receiving something but not everyone had reached the pinnacle or the end of all that they could do There’s a difference when? There’s a difference in faith when you are When you got plenty of money in the bank You got two cars but the third one is working too When all five refrigerators are full to the rim of food When all your kids are behaving and doing exactly what they’re supposed to do and they look like angels Faith looks a little different when that’s happening to when you got one car and it’s broke down You your light bill you just got and it you got a cut a shut off notice When the water just got cut back on but you don’t know how you’re gonna pay it before the 15th to get it To let it stay on When you’re sick and tired of eating raviolis out of the can and the kids think it’s awesome Because it’s a really cool meal. But in the back of your head, you know that I barely got it Faith looks a little different in those two one.
I touched jesus But i’m not really touching him because i’m not at the end of myself the second one I touched jesus i’m touching him Because I have nothing I have done Everything that I possibly can and now the lord is telling me walk around that city And say not a muttering word You can see The marching around the city in jesus As when they crucified him he made not a word He said he didn’t speak against them And yet he was victorious over it all So faith looks a little different in those two And if we could have the same Faith as we reach out to christ In the bad time as well as the good time We can take up the attitude of joe in chapter one Should we not bless god or praise god in the good times and the bad should we Should we not hold on to our integrity in that way and so When you think about it If you surround yourself With people who have faith When you don’t have faith Like that story that sarah was talking about We can borrow a little bit of their faith Right ever stood on somebody else’s faith You ever looked at somebody else and said well if they can do If they believe if god did it for them If he came through for them Surely surely he can come through for me that’s standing on the faith of another I’ve seen it where he didn’t have no gas and he made it So i’m i’m gonna push oh she made it so i’m gonna push but ultimately The faith that we all collectively stand on is the faith of jesus Because we put our trust and faith in him our hope So So Wonderful points.
I like I said, I was reading the whole time tonight and I just wanted to Say when you do reach in any situation And in almost every situation you can find yourself whether good or bad when you come to the end of self That’s where the journey with god truly begins Because as long as you can do it And god ain’t there Hmm but when god gives you the ability to do it through him You can say there’s no way I was able to accomplish that without god So then he becomes first and foremost in that When we can do it ourselves then, you know, I hate to say it. We are a little prideful in it that we Put god first in the things we can do ourselves I don’t think you know pumping my gas in my car when I take it out the pump I don’t really be like praise the lord, you know You know, I’m just gonna be honest about myself I don’t and I should Because if it wasn’t for him Well, we wouldn’t have petrol If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t have the nozzle I wouldn’t have this car I wouldn’t have the money to pay for the petrol to board the car And everything and all things he should be praised so praise the lord But I kind of did it on my own kind of, you know in my mind He gave me the job but I worked the job and I got the money and I painted it and I gave the lady the five dollars for less than a gallon of gas and Because it ain’t what it used to be But so what I put it in my tank and I filled it up and it’s already gone, but I did that God, i’m not thinking. Wow.
Thank you lord But I got it. I got the five I can fill my tank up right now. No big deal.
So i’m not thinking but what about when I went to the gas station 12 years ago Gas is a little cheaper But I didn’t have that fire I was putting my card in and I was praying father. It should be your wheel. Let this car pass They go through, you know I go in there and be like, can I get?
Five on ten and I go to swipe my card and when it come through I say, thank you lord because there was He was in And if we were to be come to the end of ourselves In every situation I may be all the way from the bible study and i’m sorry.
When we come to the end of ourselves in all situations If we can come to the end of self in all situations And it doesn’t mean that what we do and what our hands work on is not important because the very it is important But what important what is more important is our mindset as we’re doing it and so we can come to the end of self And understand that it is god who makes the provisions for us to do any and all the things that we do for for the good And Then we can see god in everything And give him honor in all things So no matter what I so so even even the mundane task of brushing my teeth I can thank the lord It’s where he becomes It’s where god becomes first and foremost in every aspect of life um one of the brothers he he he He used to always tell me that I look out into my backyard and I Am in awe of the things that god has made And i’m thinking birds and the trees he’s letting all the the electrical tower over there Because god created the man Who came up with the idea?
Who put him in the place to make the machine to manufacture the metal? to understand the complexities of Metal of metal working and how electricity flows And in this in that and then you start to see the awe-inspiring complexity in nature of god That everything all this this technology the computer that we’re on the the thing that we’re talking on right now Whether that person who created it or not believes in god. He is a creation of god And so I can thank him even for the zoom for the camera for the internet for data And so then it takes a new meaning That everything that has breath praise the lord every any it’s just like He because i’ve come to end of self So when I go to touch him now with all of that in mind thinking about all of that Everything I just said thinking about it and putting it in that way Now look at the woman with the issue of blood and why it is when she touched him When she touched Y’all know the him when she touched him It was different from when everybody else touched him He said he said I felt What was it?
I felt I felt virtue Thank you, baby. I felt virtue flow. She touched him in such a deep way because she had nothing left that virtue flowed out of messiah But everybody else was touching them and needed something But they wasn’t touching them in such a way That they had nothing That virtue filled that voice We can get to that to touch him in that way imagine That is having faith in christ jesus And allowing him to be your faith So the faith can only be you you only got to have it. What is the bible says a muscle seed?
All I gotta have is a little bit of faith in jesus and that’ll carry me a long way Now that I have a little bit of faith I can look at someone else who trusts in jesus So much that I can now stand on what because all she did was hear And she stood on what she heard That she may go and get it for herself. So she stood on the faith of the word of others That she may go empty and void of everything of herself to touch She had faith Borrowed from someone else All right

And that’s that’s why I think too a lot of that is uh, You said on the word of others so that’s looking at like the community that we’re surrounding ourselves around but one of the things he was talking about is uh early on you said, you know, When the fridge is full all the cars are working and the kids are behaving And you’re talking you’re referring to how we have to come to the end of ourselves even in those situations Well, I wanted to elaborate a little bit.
Like how are we doing that? Like How can you possibly think? Oh, everything’s good Why do I need christ so much still right?
And I have to say it’s through the development of your prayer life in relationship with him knowing that Knowing because bible studies are about knowing and knowing the word that all comes from him And in the aspect of like king saul in this scenario When he went out and he wasn’t supposed to take anything from the land And he said well these are my works and i’m just gonna take them And he he takes them even though he wasn’t supposed to and the lord, you know He gets rebuked for that and he starts losing everything and that’s where you see the shift from king saul to david Where he starts losing these things because he thought it was at his works Well when you’re deepening your relationship in prayer with christ and you’re on your face Prostrate out before the lord at every moment ready to grab that head of christ as pastor was saying Like the woman at the issue of blood, you know through your relationship and the word of god That what you have now Was only because of him I love it so Does anybody else have anything?
Evangelist Synthia
It’s someone’s wife right One of the wives So as we were talking about, um You know what it takes to get to that point of being rid of yourself and everything Um and talking about her just going to touch to him and think about the directions that she had to take to get there he Because of her faith in what she heard in the hope that she had of being rid of the disease she had been plagued with She had to crawl possibly crawl to him.
She had to go through the crowd She wasn’t being loud about it as far as what i’m aware of correct me if i’m wrong But she had to travel she had to get up and do something and go to him She had to choose to follow him you know, and that’s one thing that like We have to choose To go to him no matter what because what if somebody in the crowd looked at her and was like, oh my gosh It’s the girl that bleeds a lot. What is she doing going and touching jesus?
What what is this unclean woman doing going and we’ve seen that in other? Appearances in the bible of in the text that what what are they doing? These unclean people going around jesus.
It’s like we have to get past of what other people may think of us, too We have to know that our last hope Is jesus the bible tells us to put our hope in jesus not in man We shouldn’t put our hope in anything else. We shouldn’t put our faith in anything else. We place it on in jesus christ only Because everything else can fail us and it’s a sad truth, but it’s the truth jesus will not fail us and um Earlier when you were talking, um, you were talking about having patience, you know I believe the men who were walking around the wall.
I mean that had to occur some patience to not say anything, especially if they’re normally people of um, Uh the type to complain and i’ve i’ve noticed that I can go into that state where i’m even complaining in my own head But I have to be careful not to let that out to other people and I ask the lord to forgive me and correct me um And there’s another thing that I wanted to add Sorry, I have like all these things that I wanted to add here and there but i’m just doing dumping it all at the end um There’s sometimes when god gives you instructions To be quiet. He tells you what he is going to do, but then he says be quiet And I never understood why I would have to be quiet And not share the good thing that the lord is going to do for Somebody else or for myself, whatever that is that the lord has showed me And I would get frustrated and I noticed the times that I shared it when I wasn’t supposed to even with um certain, you know people that you think that wouldn’t look at you and say Um, are you crazy?
You know and that sows some doubt into What’s going on? There’s times where he tells us to be quiet of the things that he is doing There’s a time to speak and there’s a time to be quiet um I just wanted to share that tidbit because that other person whether intentionally or unintentionally could sow a seed of doubt they could sow something against you unintentionally or intentionally um And that’s why we have to be careful when he says to be quiet as well.
Um I think i’m coming to the end of all my stuff, but I wanted to add that. Um Going back to the patience in it It reminded me of the um the fruits of the spirit and the fruits of the spirit is something that You know we work on and we get stronger and more mature in the faith and we need those things working all together in us the fruits that the holy spirit produces in us to be able to Do as the lord had willed for us to do and instructs us to do Because in that there’s also listed patience. There’s joy, you know um Hope i’m trying to find the verse but for some reason it Left It says but the fruit of the spirit the result of his presence within us is love unselfish concern for others joy inner peace Patience not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting kindness goodness faithfulness gentleness Self-control against such things There is no law and those who belong to christ jesus have been have crucified the simple nature Together with its passions and appetites and sometimes the passion and the appetites of the simple nature could be Going and talking about that good thing that I said that the lord said to be quiet about it could be that We have doubt when we go and speak about it and we can sow doubt into other people who are waiting for their promise and so We just have to be really careful and work in the fruits of the spirit as well And I think i’m done.
