Who Are We?

Damascus Ministries was founded and organized in 2015 after two years of worshipping in the living of Pastor Carlton and Lady Ivy’s home. The Lord placed in the heart of Carlton and Ivy the need to establish a House of Prayer and worship according to Isaiah 56:7 New King James Version (NKJV) “Even them will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices. Will be accepted on My altar; For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” This desire was put on the heart of their children they decided as a family to start doing a family Bible Studies and Worship on Thursday night. Soon people started to hear that this was happening and wanted to join in with the worship. This turned in to Sunday evening services happening in their home and on March 20th, 2015 the church was founded. Damascus Ministries was the name given as a testament to how Pastor Carlton’s life was transformed in the same way the Apostle Pauls. Damascus has been sense 2015 helping those who have a desire to know and learn about the Messiah.

Covenant Statement

In furtherance of the Church’s belief that God calls all of His people to serve as ministers ordained to specific good works. He has created and empowered us to perform in a spirit of unity and commitment to the Word of God, the members of the Church individually and jointly adopt the following covenant of members:

Having each been individually led by the Holy Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord and, on the profession of our faith in Christ, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly, solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another.

We will walk together in Christian love and in the power of the Holy Spirit to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ, to strive for the success in the Church’s ministries, in knowledge of His Truth, in holiness, and to promote the spiritual growth and impact of this Church and its members.

We will sustain the Church’s worship, ordinances and discipline. We will be good stewards of our earthly possessions by cheerfully and regularly supporting its ministries underwriting its ministerial and operating expenses, the relief of the poor, and the evangelistic outreach for the spread of the gospel to those who do not have a personal relationship with Christ in the United States and all nations.

We will strive to maintain family and private devotional Bible studies and prayer: to educate our children in our Christian biblical faith: to seek the salvation of our family and acquaintances: to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, exemplary in our deportment; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense and always ready for reconciliation.

What We Believe

This Church places high value on the spiritual and biblical truths of Christ spiritually joining the members to this Church with the purpose and intent that they feel God’s presence and power and that they utilize their spiritual gifts in fulfilling leadership roles at the Church and in their spheres of influence in the community. The Church should provide opportunities to its members to help them develop their gifts through prayer, study and exercising the same in a manner that blesses the members, the church and those ministered to by the members.

The relationship between all members and the Church, its leaders and other members, shall be directed by the bylaws, including their personal acceptance of the following Members’ Covenant.

This church believes that the Bible is the Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in the matters of faith and conduct.

This church believes that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.

This church believes in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in his virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe He died in our place to atone for our sins, in His bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, continual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.

This church believes in the Holy Spirit who was sent into the world by the Father and the Son to apply to mankind the saving work of Christ. He enlightens the minds of sinners, awakens in them a recognition of their need for a Savior and regenerates them. At the point of salvation, he permanently indwells every believer to become the source of assurance, strength and wisdom, and uniquely endows each believer with gifts for the building up of the Body of Christ. The Holy Spirit guides believers in understanding and applying the believer to lead a life of Christ-like character and to bear fruit to the glory of the Father.

This church believes that man was created in the image of God that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical but also spiritual death which is separation from God, and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and are guilty sinners in thought, word and deed.

This church believes that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior receive forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life, and are regenerated by the Holy Spirit This church believes that salvation from judgment, forgiveness of sin, and eternal life are free gifts of God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, and cannot be earned, deserved, inherited or bought.

This church believes that water baptism and the infilling of the Holy Spirit, and therefore water baptism is done by immersion for followers of Jesus Christ. We also believe in the dedication of children to God, as well as their parents, family and this church to raise the child in such a way that they might live for God. We intent- tionally celebrate and communicate about these events so as to clear up any confusion that may arise.

This church believes that those who celebrate in the partaking of the Lord’s Supper should be believers walking in fellowship with our Lord Jesus Christ. This church believes that the Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to evangelize to the lost and to edify the saved.

This church believes that local churches can best promote the cause of Jesus Christ by cooperating with each other as partners in the building of the kingdom of God.
